Based upon results drawn from countries where very restrictive NPIs were used, compared to countries with only light restrictions, the study found “no clear, significant beneficial effect of mrNPIs on case growth in any country.”
As to whether the spring lockdowns of 2020, i.e. mrNPIs, brought infection rates down, the study wrote: “there is no evidence that more restrictive non-pharmaceutical interventions (“lockdowns”) contributed substantially to bending the curve of new cases in England, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, or the United States in early 2020.” The authors admitted that whilst “modest decreases in daily growth” could not be “excluded in a few countries, the possibility of large decreases in daily growth due to mrNPIs is incompatible with the accumulated data.”
Here is something so many of us knew from history and common sense. It boils down to a balancing of the risks and benefits. And so so many of my friends knew this, and yet there were those who adhered to the decision to close down our nation when the data was already there. Yet there were “those”, mostly Democratic Governors, Mayors and leaders who believed anything short of a complete and total isolation of all was compared to killing others. Rejecting the time-honored option to protect the vulnerable, elderly and sick and and to mitigate, mask, and distance themselves for the rest —– Isolate and Mitigate). These putative saviors of mankind even rejecting the science from prior years and the recommendations of none other the WHO.
But here we are today with the Miracle Vaccine achieved under Trump’s Warp Speed Program and the recent Stanford Study below proving this year of suffering made worse by the well-intention bearer few positives. The well-intentioned but insufferable may have ruined a nation economically and sowed such seeds of distrust with their hateful rhetoric that it will take a very, very long time to recover.
I fear with this revenge and retribution attitude of the Democratic Party leaders and supporters will perpetuate this disunity as they promote re-educating the pro-Trump folks which one claimed were mostly white and even thinking camps. For God’s sake these crazies want to remove our children…. Did you catch that? Remove children from their parents….. remember what “they” said about children at the border.
